Manifesto

The Bonzer philosophy

Our principles for search in 2026. Written for a time when the answer comes from a language model as often as from a search engine.

Why a manifesto

When we started Bonzer in Copenhagen in 2017, SEO meant getting to the top of Google. That goal is still there. But search is no longer one engine. It is many surfaces: Google, ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity and AI Overviews. So we rewrote our philosophy. The principles have not changed. They simply apply in more places now.

This is not a sales page. These are the principles we measure our own work against, whether we are running a Baseline or focused sprints. They are also the reason we do nothing but SEO: we would rather be the sharpest specialist agency than the biggest one. We win on depth, not on breadth.

After more than 3,000 SEO analyses and more than 1,000 clients over the years, the pattern is clear to us. The companies that win in search work from principles. Tactics age. Principles hold.

The first principle

Focus on people, not search engines.

It was our first principle and it still holds. Today it means building the best answer for a human being, whether that answer is crawled by a search engine or quoted by a language model. Good content creates relationships. Relationships run on trust. Trust creates growth.

No silos

Search is one whole. We never work in silos.

Technical health, content and authority are not three disciplines you can optimize separately. The technical foundation decides whether your content can be found at all. The content decides whether it deserves to be found. The authority decides whether it gets believed.

In 2026 a fourth dimension has joined them: AI visibility. Language models read the same signals in a new context. Structure, entities and credible sources decide whether your brand becomes part of the answer or gets left out of it.

So we keep all of it inside one strategy. That is rarely the easiest way to run an agency, but it is how search actually behaves.

Content is still the core

Content is the answer your audience is looking for. Everything else in SEO exists to get that answer in front of the right person at the right moment.

Good content starts with the intent behind the question, not with the keyword. Cover a topic properly and answer the questions that surround it, and you build topical authority. That authority wins rankings on Google and citations in AI answers alike.

E-E-A-T is not a checklist. It is a demand for honesty: show who is speaking, what they have actually done, and why they are in a position to know. Experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust are the signals both Google and the language models lean on when they choose their sources.

We never produce content for the machines. We help you structure the knowledge you already hold, so it becomes findable and useful for people looking for answers. You can see what that does in our cases.

The new SEO umbrella

Classic search and AI search are one dynamic: people looking for companies.

We live in a both/and world, not an either/or one. Google and ChatGPT are growing at the same time, and people search more, in more ways, in more places. SEO is the umbrella over all of it, and both surfaces carry the same weight in our work.

That makes SEO more important, not less. Every new surface is one more place where the best answer wins. The ground has not been claimed yet, and the head start is yours to take.

The new era of search

One umbrella: SEO.

Search is no longer one place. It is two surfaces running on the same logic, and we optimize across both, because the best answer wins on either.

Classic search

Found by the search engine.

Google · Bing. Classic search still runs on rankings, clicks and traffic. Technical health, content and authority decide who sits at the top when your customers search.

AI search

Cited by the language model.

ChatGPT · Google Gemini · Copilot. Language models pick their sources by structure, entities and credibility. Same signals, new surface.

Continuity over projects

Search is not a project. It is a muscle that has to be trained.

Algorithms update, competitors move, and AI answers are reshaped by new sources all the time. A one-off project can lift you, but only continuous work holds the position and builds on it. Good SEO is long-term and strategic to us: optimized for the value your business actually earns and for the people using your site, not for a vanity metric in the next quarterly report.

That is why our core product is a Baseline: ongoing analysis, strategy, advice, execution and reporting. On top of it we run focused sprints when one area needs a concentrated push.

Continuity is also what keeps the strategy flexible. When search moves, we move with it, without starting over.

Quality over tactics

Your visibility should not look natural. It should be natural.

We work white-hat and follow the rules of the surfaces we optimize for, with no tricks to fool the algorithm. Tactics that game the system produce spikes that collapse at the next update. Principles built around people keep working. Our simplest test: if a shortcut would be embarrassing to explain, it is not our work.

The tool behind the work

Principles carry obligations, technical ones included. That is why we built Morrison, our own AI content ops platform: it reads your entire website, learns your brand from your own documents and connects to your performance data.

Morrison was built on 8+ years and 1,000+ client projects, and it runs behind every client delivery. Every skill in the platform exists because our specialists needed it in real client work: E-E-A-T assessments, content audits, brand voice checks and refresh prioritization.

This is how we hold ourselves to our own manifesto. If we say that technical health, content and AI visibility belong together, then our tool has to be able to see all of it at once. So we built it ourselves.
